NOC codes are used when an ACH transaction cannot be processed as originally intended due to incorrect or outdated information.

  • C01 - Incorrect DFI Account Number: The account number provided in the ACH transaction is incorrect.
  • C02 - Incorrect Routing Number: The routing number provided in the ACH transaction is incorrect.
  • C03 - Incorrect Routing Number/Account Number: Both the routing number and account number provided in the ACH transaction are incorrect.
  • C04 - Incorrect Individual Name/Company Name: The name of the account holder provided in the ACH transaction is incorrect.
  • C05 - Incorrect Transaction Code: The transaction code in the ACH entry is incorrect.
  • C06 - Incorrect Company Identification: The company identification number used in the ACH transaction is incorrect.
  • C07 - Incorrect Entry Description: The description of the ACH entry is incorrect.
  • C08 - Incorrect DFI Account Number & Incorrect Routing Number: Both the account number and routing number provided in the ACH transaction are incorrect.
  • C09 - Incorrect Individual Name/Company Name & Incorrect DFI Account Number: Both the account holder's name and account number provided in the ACH transaction are incorrect.
  • C10 - Incorrect Individual Name/Company Name & Incorrect Routing Number: Both the account holder's name and routing number provided in the ACH transaction are incorrect.

To use ACH NOC codes, follow these steps:

  • Notification: When a financial institution identifies incorrect or outdated account information in an ACH transaction, they send a NOC notification to the originating financial institution.
  • NO Entry: The originating financial institution receives the NOC notification and processes it to update their records.
  • NOC Codes: The NOC notification includes the specific NOC code that indicates the type of change needed.
  • Correction: The originating financial institution corrects the ACH entry based on the NOC code received. This may involve updating the account number, routing number, name, or other relevant details.
  • Communication: If necessary, the originating financial institution communicates with the account holder or the receiving financial institution to confirm the changes.
